What is Seasonal Affective Disorder? Commonly known as (SAD) it is a mood disorder in which people with normal health experience depressive
symptoms during the winter months when the days are shorter and people tend to spend more time indoors. Symptoms of SAD include may
include difficulty waking up in the morning, morning sickness, tendency to oversleep. overeating, craving for carbohydrates and weight
gain. Symptoms may also include a lack of energy, difficulty concentrating and withdrawal from friends and family members. This may
lead the depression and negative feelings.
BlueLight Treatment - Blue light therapy is used to help people with Seasonal Affective Disorder because it has lower
intensity of wavelength light at 470 nm. The short wavelength blue light has demonstrated potency as a stimulus for acute melatonin
suppression and circadian phase shifting, thus reducing the symptoms of SAD.
